The game of Bingo originated
in 14th century Italy as "Lo Giuoco del Lotto D'Italia," a game that
is still played in Italy today. From Italy, it spread to other European
countries taking on various forms, finally landing in North America
in 1929 where it was introduced at an Atlanta, GA carrnival as a game
called "Beano." After a player accidentally called out "Bingo," the
game got its modern name
The idea then came from a Catholic
Priest to use the game as a means to raise church funds while fostering
community activity. It was estimated that by 1934 more than 10,000 games
of Bingo were being played weekly in the US.

80 Ball Bingo
at Gala Bingo
In the UK 90
Ball Bingo is played, and in the US 75 Ball. But when 90 balls are
too many, yet 75 aren't quite enough, it's time for 80 Ball Bingo -
the latest Bingo game craze to sweep the UK and now the Web! It's fun
and easy to play, and it can be rewarding as well.
80 Ball Bingo started in the
UK and is gaining popularity worldwide through UK casino sites. The
game is similar to both of its predecessors as far as players marking
off numbers as they are called on their cards, making it easy to learn
how to play. A few new additions make game play more fun and exciting!
New 80 Ball Bingo cards add
to the fun of this game. Players use the shutter boards (as the cards
are also termed) by sliding a cover over their numbers as they are called.
Each bingo card has four rows and four columns with a total of 16 spaces,
each column being a different color.
Internet play is similar with
players seeing numbers shaded in their online bingo tickets. A nice
contrast to the older versions of the game, 80 Ball Bingo also features
a new host of patterns on the cards, often featuring 80 Full Card (similar
to Blackout or Full House), and others such as Four Corners, Big X,
and Horizontal, Diagonal and Vertical lines.
The call board for 80 Ball is
much like that of 75 Ball Bingo,
again with some changes. It has five rows of 16 numbers, making a total
of 80. The numbers are divided into four color groups by lots of 20.
Just like any other bingo game, you purchase your cards, and start marking
your numbers as they are called. It's that simple. 80 Ball Bingo is
quickly gaining popularity across the internet, and is now appearing
on dozens of sites across the web. There are many sites offering free
games as well as play for real money.
